I really enjoy driving.
(Especially in my new car. Boy, is it ever peppy!)
I really enjoy ripping along the highway, with or without music blasting, in the summer or the winter, windows up or down, day or night.
I love watching the road unfold around the corners, up and down the mountains, along the coast, into and out of towns that I may or may not stop in.
Road trips have been almost the only holidays I've been on, other than a couple trips to northern BC (when I flew up), and out to Nova Scotia (where we drove around the Maritimes for 5 days).
When we lived in the Yukon, we went for road trips, since it was expensive to fly anywhere. We'd go to Whitehorse -6ish hours away-or to the Liard Hot Springs -2 hours away- for weekend trips. After we moved back to BC, we still drove for our vacations.
And, now, as an adult, I still prefer to go for a drive for my vacation.
I worked 5 days the week of Easter, so I took the holiday this week, and threw a vacation day in there as well, giving myself a four-day weekend. I've been debating going back to school, possibly to get an accounting designation, and was also talking to my dad about selling him and my step-mom my car, so I could afford to do more school. On Wednesday, I just putzed around home, slept in, vegged out, and then on Thursday I headed up to Kamloops to see my parents and my younger brother.
It was my first time driving up there in this car, and it was so much fun. But middle-aged dudes don't like it when girls zip by in a Volvo, that's for sure.
When I lived in Kamloops, I couldn't wait to get my ass outta there. And now that I'm in Squamish, I look forward to visiting. It's different though. It's a nice place to visit, but it's in a desert, it's all brown and yellow and artificially-green. I do like hanging out with my Dad and my younger brother though! My brother comes up with some pretty hilarious one-liners though.
So, I was planning on getting their opinions on my work situation, and try to convince my stepmom to buy my car, and to try to figure out what to do about school. And I didn't really get anything figured out!
But my mini-vacation, and the beautiful drive to get there, made the trip worthwhile, in my opinion!
